Methodology
The Hemobag® process consists of 3 simple steps:
Step 1: Fill the Hemobag
(After termination of bypass)
Fill at surgical field via the extracorporeal circuits arterial line connected directly to the Hemobag®. After removing the aortic cannula using a 3/8 x 1/4 connector and a 1/4 inch line connected securely to the top of the Hemobag® off the field, then chasing forward any venous reservoir volume and the circuit's blood with crystalloid displacement into the Hemobag.
Step 2: Hemoconcentration
Apply the Hemobag® to the closed TS3 Tubing Set's "Recovery Loop circuit" for hemoconcentration via a spare 1/4 inch roller pump not in use. Concentrate down to a fine, rich, autologous whole blood product with harmful wastes and excess water removed but keeping all functional cellular components saved from being discarded.
Step 3: Infusion
With the lines clamped and capped, the Hemobag® is now ready for labeling and end-product reinfusion by anesthesia.
Global Blood Resources LLC is pleased to offer two short videos (~2 mins) that shows how the Hemobag® works in the operative setting. Remember to turn your speakers on. Click here if you want to know more about how the Hemobag® works.
